This state was carved out of Borno State, which itself was created from the former North eastern state. Major attraction is the favorable weather condition and the beautiful Biu Plateau. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people. Potiskum Town has one one the largest cattle markets in West Africa. Potash is found in large quantity in this state.
