Carved out of the old Bendel State, the state is rich in Petroleum and natural gas, located in the Niger Delta. Large quantities of these minerals are produced in this state. The state is home to several industries, which include a glass factory at Ughelli, The African Timber and Plywood factory, Sapele, Asaba Textile Mill, and fish products. It is also home to one of the oldest port in Nigeria, Koko port. Olu of Warri is a direct decendant of the Oba of Benin, who is also a decendant.
