The predominant occupation of the people of this state is farming, however, it is a major producer of oil palm, rubber, cocoa, rice, banana, and fish produce. Significant landmark include, Obudu ranch, Agbokia falls, Kwa falls, the grave of Mary Slessor[early christian missionary] and her house in Calabar, and the grave in Calabar, of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ovoramen who died in 1914 after being exiled by the British during the British Punitive expenditure of Benin in 1897. Calabar is also home to several buildings with historical significant.
