This state was once part of North eastern state when Nigeria and then later created out of Gongola State. Like every other states in Nigeria, this state has a very rich cultural heritage. Tourist attraction includes: Kiri Dam, Njuwa and Yinagu fishing festivals, the Ruwan Zafi and the Farai wrestling festival, Lamido Palace, the famous "three sisters Hills", and the Kemale Peak on the Cameroun/Nigeria border. The primary occupation of the people of Adamawa is Agriculture: Maize, Yam, Cassava, Guinea Corn, Millet and Rice, Groundnut, Cotton, etc.
