Umuahia the state capital, is the home of the National War Museum where relics of the Nigeria civil war, especially inventions are displaced. Furthermore, ABA, Nigeria's foremost electronics and indigenous technology city is situated in the state. In addition, there are the Akwette Blue River Tourist Village and the Unwana Beach. Akwette is also famous for its unique weaving industry.
Agriculture is the major occupation of the people of Abia State. Yam, cassava, rice plantain, banana, maize and cocoyam are produced in large quantities.
Large scale industrial establishments like Nigeria Breweries, Aba, Golden Guinea Breweries, Umuahaia, Aba Textile Mills, Modern Ceramic, Umuahia are located in Abia State. Petroleum, Lead and Zinc are also found in the State.
