Kano, the state capital, is famous for its ancient walls, the famous Kurmi market, which has existed since the transahara trade, and its also one of the oldest cities in Nigeria. The state is also well known for its colorful Durbar festival. The state also produces beautiful leather works and pottery. Major crop in the state is groungnut.
